Week 7 - Video Project & Week's Reflection

Part One:

How did you collaborate?

So far, we completed the professional audience video. Our collaboration was phenomenal. We have two set times to meet throughout the week:

Monday at 4:00 PM and Wednesday at 1:00 PM.

This allows us to start on assignments as soon as they are open and we have the time to sit through those days working together. One of our meetings lasted almost 5 hours. Everyone in our group is motivated and disciplined and also capable of working in a team. We listen to each other's opinions and make sure we communicate any problems we may have.

What tools did you use to communicate and produce?

We used:

- Discord for recording and communication.
- Google Slides for production.

Is the process smooth?

Yes and no. What happened the other day was that we didn't really read the directions right and thought the assignment was pretty straightforward. However, after almost completing the professional slides, we came to realize that we didn't follow through with everything mentioned on the assignment specifications. We went through our slides one more time to fix any issues and then started recording.

We are going to start on the general audience's slides on this coming Monday, February 24th. It will be a long day as we are planning to do the whole thing + recording in the same day.

What will you do differently next time in large collaborative projects?

Next time, I want to follow these steps:

- Locate all assignment directions and specifications and have links ready to open whenever.
- Talk about all directions with the team members to ensure clarity.
- Start an outline right away.
- Assign roles, slides, etc to each team member
- Execute.

Part Two:

Ted video reflection:

Gave us good insight into the art of presenting and the "DO-NOTS" with the presentation. Something I learned was that we shouldn't be reading off all the text directly from the slide as it isn't professional. Instead, have notes or a transcript of what you're going to say exactly so you can practice it. The only reason why I had to read off the slide's during our video presentation was because we were under a time limit so had to ensure we stick within the time limit with as little errors as possible.

Presentation skills reflection:

I've heard many good things about Toast Masters and plan on taking their in-person courses as well. But, basically the point is to make sure everything you are presenting is clear and relating to whatever point you're trying to get across to the audience. Make sure to have a clear vision and purpose and then an organized manner to present the information. Think of it as you being in the audience.. would you get bored if you were in the audience of your own presentation?
